Set up a gallery in Wingfiled Park. The gallery hopes the viewer, when looking through the frames, will consider the questions What is Nature? and the conflict of how “man-made” can a thing be before it is no longer nature. Nature? Every single frame offers the viewer the opportunity to decide what is nature and what isn’t. These picture frames are specifically placed in hopes to capture the beautiful nature of Wingfield Park, and yet man-made objects intrude from all directions. The frames hold within them trees, water, earth, rocks, as well as concrete, construction, metal, and brick. Does the angle at which you stand change your view? Or can you look through the frame from the completely opposite direction? Either way you are offered the choice. Is what you see truly nature?
Artist Summary: Re-purpose this site conveyed the fashion world’s self-image controversy of looking healthy and beautiful. Fashion magazines feature models that look unhealthy and skinny “selling” the subliminal message to either buy products or treatments to look as they do. All images chosen for this piece were for their appearance of unhealthiness, and not the beauty that is found in the real world today. The composition expressed reality and the false perception of beauty.
